Kensli's 21 Days of Fasting

A little while ago, while trying to dress Kensli, she informed me she was fasting? Really? She has already told me that she hates this fast, even though she is not fasting anything! I asked her what she was fasting and she said................

CLOTHES!!!!!

She has really been doing a good job with her fast, too! With the weather being so warm lately all she wants to wear around the house is underwear!

Sounds like a good fast for August in Louisiana! Should I mention it to Pastor? :)

Life According to Kensli

If you have ever met Kensli, you know the minute you meet her where you stand with her and what she thinks about you! Her statements are always bold, random, loud, and extremely passionate about everything from people to poop! I guess one of the reasons that she gets so many posts about things that she says is that Nicholas just doesn't talk that much! He giggles, wrestles, makes noise, runs everywhere but is just not a big talker. Kensli is his spokesman, which usually is pretty funny when she tells anyone that will listen what Nicholas is thinking or doing!

The other day at the ball field, Kensli was in being the family spokesman and was telling two other moms all about us. She told them about her siblings, mom and dad, etc. Finally she ran out of things to talk about and decided they all needed a little demonstration of "Kensli love"!!!!!! She leaned over to Nicholas and suggested that they hug. She did not wait for his response and proceeded to grab him and squeeze him tight! This did not appeal to Nicholas, and he resisted her hug! Guess he shouldn't have, because she punched him and then announced loudly, "I said I want a hug!" He quickly complied, and then she and I had to have a talk about being kind which ended in her sitting beside me for awhile!

Kensli likes to push the sassy envelope daily! Last week I was fussing at her for not minding me when I told her to stop doing something. I guess she did not like what I was saying because as I finished my little lecture she stuck her tongue out at me! I asked in a shocked tone, "Did you stick your tongue out at me?" She replied, "No, I was just scratching tongue with my teeth, because it is itchy!" What do you say to that?

Finally, I thought that I would post a picture of Kensli's itchy tougue! Oh, and she was a princess, spy agent this particular day! :)

Flowers, Beautiful Dresses, and Wrestle Mania

Our backyard is just beautiful this time of year! The azaleas are in full bloom and everything else is turning green! This past weekend Kaitlyn asked if I could take some pictures of the kids outside. Turns out that only the two girls would participate in her plan! Kaitlyn picked out their dresses and fixed their hair. The only thing she forgot was to clean Kensli's mouth. I didn't say a word, because I thought it was so cute.

Here are a few pictures of the blooms.

Now for the prettiest girls in my world!!!!!

If you are wondering what the boys did during the photo shoot, here it is!!!!!!!
One big wrestling party!!!!!
As Kensli says on a regular basis, "OH, THOSE BOYS!!"

What's Going On!!!!!!!!

I have been neglecting my blog the last few weeks, because I have had writer's block.......uh, I mean, blogger's block! I read so many blogs and think, why can't I write like that!!! Yesterday morning our Pastor Terry taught about being comfortable in your on skin. He used the reference I Cor. 12: 14-18, which talks about how we are all part of the body of Christ and can't all be the same part of the body! So-o-o-o, guess I should learn to be comfortable with my own blog!!!!!!

Life has really picked up speed around here with the coming of warmer weather! Ball is in full swing and now that Ricky 's preseason tournaments have begun, we are spending a lot of time at the ball park! Nicholas and Kaitlyn are wrapping up their soccer season this month! Kaitlyn played mid-field this week and was quite the aggressive soccer player! She even knocked one of the boys down, much to every one's surprise. Nicholas, the natural born athlete, scored two goals in his soccer game this weekend! Mom is just a little proud!!!!!!!!

We had to make a very tough decision this weekend.......we had a to put our cat outside! Ricky has had allergy problems so bad this year, that after the doctor put him on his second round of antibiotics in the past two months for a sinus infection, we decided that the cat had to go out! She is faring OK, and cries at the back door, but will adapt in time.

My camera card reader went out this past week and I can't upload pictures, but hopefully this will change today! I took some pictures of the girls this weekend in the backyard with all the flowers blooming. Hopefully I can post those tonight!

21 DAYS

Yesterday our church started a 21 day Daniel's Fast. 21 days....my kids are not thrilled.....my flesh is not thrilled......but something in my spirit longs for more of God. Due to my health issues, I am having to tweak it some, and hopefully the end results will be the same. One of the big things that I am fasting is media, which includes blog reading! Sorry guys, I just wanted to let you know so that you would not think I was mad at you by not commenting on your blogs. I will be posting only, but will not allow myself the joy of reading others posts. Also, I am off of F*cebook for the entire fast! I did not want to be tempted to complain about not being able to eat chocolate. :)

My prayer for my family through this fast is that He will show us His will for every aspect of our lives!!!!!!!!! God confirmed to me in the last few weeks that if I will submit my will about all things(including adopting again), He will give me the desires of my heart. I already know this, but when God confirms His WORD it gives me renewed peace!

Please be in prayer for us and our entire church as we draw closer to HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!

A View Through the Eyes of a 4 Year Old

Frankly, I do not remember what the world looked like at 4 years old. I really do not remember what I thought was important! One day last week I left my camera down in reach of Kensli and I found her playing with it! I did not realize she had taken some pictures until I started uploading the card to the computer. It is really funny to see what she thought was important and at what angle she views her world.

Bar stools and floor in kitchen.

Half of Mr. Bubbles

A look out the back door at the pool filter.
Dining room window

The kitchen sink in her doll house.

Half of one of the dolls for the doll house.

Old Blue the Rocking Horse

Binoculars
She took a few pictures of me, too! :) Sorry, but they will not be posted here! When Kaitlyn saw the ones of me she said, "I hope you don't put those on the blog, they are really bad!" HAHAHAHA! Kids know how to keep you humble!

An Update and A Visit to the Country

Life goes by so fast!!!! I have been meaning to post for several days now and somehow I haven't been able to find the time!

I will start with an update concerning my Spring Fever. My ant farm came in and we quickly set it up! The ants seemed a little distressed and I figure they were. They traveled SEVERAL miles and then I had to put them in the refrigerator to make them inactive to be able to pour them in the farm. After all they had been through, some of them died. We still have around 35 of the 50 ants I ordered. Once they settled in they have been VERY BUSY!!!! The following 2 pictures show just how busy they are!

Look at all the tunnels they have built!

Toby is back in Guatemala working on the water well project! He is very happy for what they are getting done this trip!

While he is gone, we have been able to visit my parents! The kids had a ball playing in the dirt, drinking coffee, eating cookies, flying kites, and fishing. The next few pictures are some of the ones taken while having fun at my parents house.

My parents plant a garden every year and dad has been getting the garden spot ready. It took a little convincing to get Nic to take his shoes off, but once he did, he loved the feel of fresh plowed dirt between his toes. Nothing like the cool soft feel on your bare feet!

The girls didn't need coaxing to get their shoes off. They love anything dirty and messy!!!!

With all the warm days we have been having, Mom's fruit trees are blooming. In 3 days it seemed they put on leaves, as well as the blooms.

Ricky has spent a lot of time this spring fishing with my dad. They take the small boat and head out for the beaver ponds. These are creeks that the beavers have dammed up into ponds. These ponds are way back in areas that are not found on a GPS.

Here is the mess of bass they caught! Ricky is so proud after all the hard work!

Kensli is so funny with her random statements. After looking at the fish she said, "Fish don't scare me, I think!"

My grandmother lives next door to my parents and was an active part of my life growing up. She is a big part of my kids lives when we go for a visit! You can always count on coffee and cookies in the afternoons at Granny's.

March has come in like a lion and that means that it is kite flying weather! Mam-ma didn't disappoint the kids and had a kite waiting for them. They did a lot of running with the kite even though the wind was high. It was funny, but we couldn't seem to figure how to keep the kite up for long.

Surprisingly Kensli did better than anybody. Maybe she couldn't run as fast! :)

Soccer season is back in full swing and we have started baseball season, too. With two in soccer for another month and the boys both playing spring baseball, we should be quite busy for the spring!
