HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO KENSLI

YEAH!!!! Today is the birthday of one of the cutest and funniest little girls I know!!!! I told her Happy Birthday this morning and she said, "It's not my birfday yet. When I open my presents it's my birfday." She thinks that presents and cakes are the actual birthday!

Toby gives his daughters roses every year for their birthday. This year Kensli was three so her daddy gave her three roses,

She was so excited when the delivery man delivered her roses. She had to smell them over and over!

Look at the pleased expression on her face.

Kensli got a little people pet salon, a stuffed animal, and a v-tech computer. She liked all her gifts but the computer was the favorite. It has a mouse and she knows exactly how to use the thing. Later she told me, "I finished, so I shut my compooter down." Wow, I think they come much more technical these days.
Ricky baked and helped decorate her cake. She asked for a chocolate cake with chocolate icing!

GOT MILK...I Mean.....WHIPPED CREAM

Last week, I had on my grocery list heavy whipping cream to go in some potato soup! Toby did the shopping and he brought home Readi-whip instead. He was thinking whipped cream. I put it in the fridge and Kaitlyn made the grand discovery today. Here are the results.........

GOT MILK????

I think it was the 1st time Kensli had ever had this kind of whipped cream. She really enjoyed eating it with her finger.

One Warm Day in January

Yesterday, we had one of our wonderful warm days that is scattered among our cold, rainy January days. The temperature was in the 70's and my kids were outside playing, so I snapped a few pictures. As you can tell, Nicholas is so happy in his shorts and shirt. Kensli has been sick for over a week, so I made her wear a hat and jacket.
My beautiful girls!

Ball season is around the corner and Ricky has started getting in shape. They have their 1st practice Sunday afternoon!

Kensli loves to ring the doorbell anytime she gets the chance!

Just like the pro's!

Catching UP

Sometimes I view my life as a car with a flat tire! This lurching, slow moving thing that really needs some time off to change the flat, but is stuck on a very busy freeway and can't get over! That is probably not the most postive comparison, but somehow it seems very accurate. I am really a slow lane driver with a race car life! So, I must become like Herbie, and overcome any obstacle even if it means splitting myself into in order to accomplish things.

I said all of that to let you know that I have a lot to catch you up on!
Ricky:
On Jan. 7th, 10 yrs ago, Ricky, still in his carseat, was placed on our coffee table by a social worker. He was the tinest thing weighing 6 lbs and 7 ozs. He was only 2 weeks old, and I was immediately in love!

This year for his anniversary of the day he was given to us, he spent the day at the National Championship cheering LSU on to victory! I asked Toby if 10 yrs ago he would have ever dreamed that he would be sitting at a game with his 10 yr old son, and he said, "No, but I am so glad I am!"

Here are some of the pictures taken at the game!

Kaitlyn:
Started her first violin lessons on Jan. 9th. She was given her first song last week that she proudly played for us. Later she came in the kitchen and stood looking at me quietly. Finally I asked, "What is the matter?" and she said, "Are you proud of me?" I told her I was and she asked, "Even though I sound so bad on my violin?" I reassured her how good I thought she was doing. I guess she thought that she would already be playing songs by now!

She has started quizzing for the year and has learned over 30 scriptures so far. She has been studying very hard! Her first quiz tourment was Saturday! We traveled to Hodge, LA and her team came in 4th. There were 11 or more teams there. I am very proud of her!!!!!!!! They won a big trophy, but I forgot my camera. I will try to get one taken and post it on here.
Nicholas:
Can spell and write his name!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Took several days to convince him that spelling and writing his name was important. Once convinced, he loves to write his name every where. Now he sits around with his notebook and pen writing and drawing things he sees. Too, FUNNY!!!!

He got to go with the missionary kids at Because of the Times Ministers Conference. The youth pastor found out a lot about Nic's philosphy in life last week. When I picked up the kids after service the youth pastor met me at the door and laughingly told me he would be in much prayer for me over the next few years. Seems that Nic really gave him a scare at the zoo by wondering off from his group to another group, not listening to instructions, and just being Nic in general. When the youth pastor asked Nic if he realized what he was doing, Nic replied, "Yep, I know it!" Got to love Ni-Nic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kensli:
We are in the process of starting potty training and yesterday she went once in her little potty! Hopefully this will be easy and quick!

Kensli has had her first cold of the season. She has not been happy with the thought of a runny nose. She will holler, "Mommy, 'not, I have 'not!" She is not happy if I ask her to wipe her nose by herself.
We were at Granny's last night and I had taken some of Kaitlyn's quizzing materials with us. On one of the quizzing materials was a yellow clip to hold it all together. I had seen Kensli fingering the clip, but didn't realize she had done more than just touch. Today, when we got home the yellow clip was missing. I asked aloud for anyone that was in the area where the clip had gone, and no one answered. A little later I was in the kitchen and in walked Kensli. So, I asked if she knew where my clip was. She looked at me and said, "Oh, was that your cwip?" I said that it was and she answered, "I fink it went missin' at Gwanny's!" Too, funny and cute! She must have taken it off and lost it there!

Two Years Ago Today

THEN............

NOW.............

Two years ago, at 11:18 a.m., the phone rang and it was CHI's Nicky Losse. We had a referral of a healthy little girl waiting for us in Yongzhou SWI, Hunan Province, China. Her pictures didn't arrive until the next day and waiting to see her face was hard! How fast these two years have flown by!
